Black crested macaques are completely black and have a very short tail. They get their name from the black crest on top of their head. Black crested macaques live in large groups. Females usually stay in the group where they were born. Males usually look for a new group when they are sexually mature. Young females are strongly attracted to a newborn cub, which the males also like to play with.
