About our privacy policy
ARTIS respects the privacy of visitors to our website(s). We therefore only process data that we need for our services and for improving these, and we handle the information we have collected about you and your use of our services with care. 

The effective date of this privacy policy is 1 December 2020. Any previous versions of our privacy policy cease to be valid upon publication of a new version of the policy. This privacy policy describes what data we collect about you, what these data are used for and to which third parties and under what conditions these data may be shared. We also explain how we store your data, how we protect your data from misuse and what rights you have with regard to the personal data you provide to us.

What personal data do we process?
ARTIS processes your personal data when you place an order via the ARTIS web shop and/or when you provide this information to us yourself. ARTIS can process the following personal data when you use the ARTIS webshop: 
•    first and last name;
•    address details;
•    email address;
•    payment details;
•    telephone number (optional);
•    IP address;
•    other personal data that you actively provide, for example by creating a profile on this website, in correspondence and by telephone;
•    location data;
•    data about your activities on our website;
•    list of customer’s contact details provided via an app;
•    Internet browser and type of device.

For what purpose and on what basis do we process personal data?
ARTIS processes your personal data for the following purposes:
•    to process your payment;
•    to send our newsletters, provided you have consented to this (you can unsubscribe at any time via the unsubscribe link);
•    to call or email you if necessary to perform our services, including handling returns, complaints, warranty claims and questions;
•    to inform you about changes to our products and services;
•    to deliver goods and services to you;
•    to analyse your behaviour on the website in order to improve the website and tailor our product and service offering to your preferences; 
•    to process personal data if we are legally required to do so, such as information we need for our tax return. 

Minors
Are you 16 years old or younger and do you want to use our products or services? You can do so under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian. 

Automated decision-making
ARTIS does not use automated decision-making to decide on matters that may have consequences, significant or otherwise, for individuals. Automated decision-making means that decisions are made by computer programs or systems based on automated processing, without a person (for example, an employee of ARTIS) being involved.

How long do we retain personal data? 
ARTIS will not retain your personal data any longer than is strictly necessary to achieve the purposes for which your data are collected. We will retain your data for as long as you are a customer with us. This means that we will retain your customer profile until you inform us that you no longer wish to use our services. We delete inactive accounts after seven years. We retain invoice details for seven years (this is legally required). If you have subscribed to any of our newsletters, you will receive them until you unsubscribe, and we will retain your email address until then.

Sharing personal data with third parties
ARTIS will not sell your data to third parties and will only provide such data if this is necessary for the performance of our agreement with you or to comply with a legal obligation. We enter into a data processing agreement with the companies that process your data on our behalf, to ensure that they treat your data with the same level of security and confidentiality. These parties will only use the data for the purpose for which ARTIS provides these data to them. ARTIS remains responsible for this data processing. In any case, we use the services of:

•    the hosting company of our ARTIS webshop (Shopify);
•    our delivery service (PostNL);
•    our logistics provider (Logistiek Optima Forma (L.O.F.) b.v.);
•    the party that sends our newsletters (Copernica).

ARTIS may be legally required to provide your data to government and law enforcement agencies, for example in connection with tax or criminal investigations.

Automatically collected data
Data that are collected automatically by our website are processed for the purpose of further improving our services. These data (details of the web browser and operating system, for example) are not personal data.

Your rights
You have the right to access your personal data, to have inaccurate personal data corrected and to have your personal data erased. In addition, you have the right to withdraw your consent to the data processing or to object to the processing of your personal data by ARTIS, and you have the right to data portability. To this end, you can request us to send a computer file with the personal data we have about you, either to you or to another organisation specified by you. 

If you wish to access your personal data, to have it corrected or erased, to exercise your right to data portability, to withdraw your consent or to object to the processing of your personal data, you can submit a request to privacy@artis.nl.

When submitting a personal data request, please enclose a copy of your identity document so that we can verify that the request comes from you. Please black out the passport photo, the machine-readable zone (MRZ; the row of numbers at the bottom), the passport number and the citizen service number (BSN) on the photocopy to protect your privacy. We will respond to your request as soon as possible, but in any case within four weeks. If the request is complex, this period may be extended. We will inform you of this in writing in good time.

How do we protect personal data?
ARTIS takes the protection of your data seriously and takes appropriate measures to prevent misuse, loss, unauthorised access, unwanted disclosure and unauthorised alteration of your data. If you feel that your data are not properly secured or there are indications of misuse, please contact our Privacy Officer.

What cookies or similar technologies do we use?
What is a cookie?
We use cookies on this website. A cookie is a simple, small file that is sent along with pages of this website (and/or Flash applications) and stored by your browser on the hard disk of your device. The information stored in this file can be sent to our servers the next time you visit our website.

Use of permanent cookies
A permanent cookie enables us to identify you when you visit our website again. This enables us to tailor the website settings to your preferences. In addition, cookies enable us to store your consent to the use of cookies on our website. As a result, you do not have to set your preferences on each visit, which saves you time and enhances your experience of our website. You can delete permanent cookies via the settings menu in your browser.

Tracking cookies
If you consent to this, we will place a cookie on your device, which can be retrieved as soon as you visit a website in our network. This keeps us updated on visits you made to other relevant websites in our network, in addition to this website. The profile created in this way is not linked to your name, address, email address or other such details and is only used to tailor ads to your profile so that they are as relevant as possible. Advertisers do not place cookies on your device.

We reserve the right to change our privacy policy at any time. You will always find the latest version on this page. So check this Privacy and Cookie Statement regularly to ensure that you are aware of any changes.

If, after reading this Privacy and Cookie Statement, you have any questions or comments about the way in which ARTIS handles your personal data, please contact the ARTIS Privacy Officer at privacy@artis.nl.

ARTIS is committed to complying with privacy legislation, handling your data as carefully as possible and respecting your rights. If you feel that we are not doing this properly, please let us know, so that we can make improvements where possible. If you believe that ARTIS does not properly implement the legal provisions with regard to privacy protection, you can submit a written complaint to ARTIS via privacy@artis.nl. If we cannot resolve the matter together, you have the right to file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority. This authority is obliged to deal with your complaint.
