Insects card set

Card set consisting of 6 postcards in A5 format with insects from ARTIS photographed by ARTIS photographer Ronald van Weeren.

ARTIS photographer Ronald van Weeren has portrayed hundreds of insects and other arthropods over the past two years. By merging about a hundred highly zoomed photos, the tiny animals are enlarged to enormous size. For example, an apparently simple mayfly (Cloeon dipterum) turns into an ingenious creature with large eyes and hard armor. Although they look exotic up close, the vast majority of the insects depicted live in the Netherlands. These sculptures have been exhibited in ARTIS during the exhibition 'Ode to the Insect'.

Photographed are the Mayfly, Green Sandwort Beetle, Golden Wasp, Hornet Robber Fly, Morpho Butterfly and Oil Beetle.
